Strategy bought 267 BTC for $22.1 million between 12 and 18 Oct, an average of $82,900 a coin including fees, and its board raised the limit on its preferred-stock buyback programme from $2.0 billion to $3.0 billion, the company said in a Form 8-K on Monday. Strategy, which CryptoWatchDesk last covered on 13 Oct when it bought 250 BTC, now holds 848,517 BTC.
The money went to the buyback, not to bitcoin. Strategy spent $193.1 million repurchasing 1,938,780 STRC shares in the week, paid from its USD Cash balance, which fell to $447.3 million from $640.5 million a week earlier. On our arithmetic, only about $162 million of the old $2.0 billion authorisation would have been left; after the increase, $1.16 billion remains, the filing says.

The bitcoin came from selling 140,872 MSTR shares, and Strategy sold no preferred stock through its at-the-market programmes during the week. The USD Reserve, which the company keeps to pay preferred dividends and debt interest, paid out $45.5 million in dividends. The mix was the same a week earlier: 250 BTC and a $192 million STRC buyback.
Two other treasury companies filed larger weekly purchases. Strive, Inc. bought 1,223 BTC between 14 and 16 Oct at about $81,734, taking it to 36,818 BTC, according to its own 8-K; with the 2,822 BTC it disclosed on 14 Oct, that makes 4,045 BTC in the week.
Strive also holds 505,000 STRC shares, and its $700 million SATS preferred offering, priced at $90 a share, is due to settle on Tuesday. That follows Strive’s 3,311 BTC purchase the week before.
Ether treasury company Bitmine Immersion Technologies added 12,535 ETH, reaching 6,041,481 ETH as of 18 Oct, or 4.9% of supply by its count, in a release filed with the SEC. Index treatment of these companies is a separate question, covered in MSCI’s new screens for crypto treasury companies; the fund route to bitcoin exposure is in our spot bitcoin ETF explainer.
Bitcoin traded at $82,148 on Kraken at 13:52 UTC, about $750 below Strategy’s average purchase price for the week.
