At a glance
- From Tuesday 13 Oct, Circle Mint no longer mints new USDC on Noble, the Cosmos-based chain that has carried native USDC for the Cosmos ecosystem. Redemptions through Circle Mint continue until 12 January 2027.
- Circle’s cross-chain transfer tool for Noble, CCTP V1, starts reducing its burn limits on 31 Oct. On 12 January the Noble USDC contract and its CCTP routes pause completely.
Circle announced the timetable on 10 Sep in a notice on its blog, as part of its move to version 2 of its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP). “Noble will not receive CCTP V2,” it said.
CCTP moves USDC between chains by burning tokens on one chain and minting the same amount on another. Put plainly, once Noble’s route is switched off, there is no Circle-run way to move USDC in or out of it. More on how issuers back these tokens in our explainer on dollar stablecoins.
The timetable
| Date | What changes |
|---|---|
| 13 Oct 2026 | New USDC minting on Noble via Circle Mint disabled. Transfers and Circle Mint redemptions continue. |
| 31 Oct 2026 | CCTP V1 burn limits on Noble begin falling towards zero. |
| After 1 Dec 2026 | CCTP exits may be limited to destination chains that still support V1. |
| 12 Jan 2027 | Noble USDC contract and CCTP routes paused; Circle takes a snapshot of balances. |
| From 13 Jan 2027 | Manual redemption process opens for eligible holders. |
What it changes for users
If you hold USDC on Noble, Circle says to move it to another supported chain before 12 January. It lists three routes: an exchange that accepts Noble USDC deposits, a swap on a Noble-based exchange, or a CCTP V1 burn to another chain. Circle says it will publish a shortlist of exit venues but will not run its own exit tool.
Moving early matters because the CCTP route narrows from 31 Oct and may only reach some chains after 1 Dec.
Anything left after the pause can be claimed only through a manual process. Holders must meet Circle’s compliance and security checks, keep the USDC in a wallet they control and appear in the 12 January snapshot, Circle said. It warned users to rely on its blog and Help Center “to avoid any potential scams”.
Developers who route USDC through Noble with CCTP V1 should remove that route before 12 January, when it will stop working.
Circle said USDC stays active across other Cosmos chains, naming Injective. Its other recent regulatory step is covered in our note on Circle’s MiCA reserve review.
