At a glance
- 1inch is discontinuing the 1inch Card, its Mastercard debit card, and has closed new sign-ups, according to its help-centre FAQ, updated on Tuesday, 20 Oct.
- Holders should withdraw or spend their balances as soon as they reasonably can and by 18 Dec 2026 at the latest. The company says the card’s issuer and provider, not 1inch, set the exact end date.
The decentralized exchange aggregator told cardholders to sign in to their card account as usual to move or spend what is left. Existing cards and accounts remain accessible while the programme winds down, the FAQ says. 1inch gave no reason for the decision and no figure for balances still on cards.
Who holds the money
The card account is run by Crypto Life (CL), the card provider, and not by 1inch. According to the FAQ, Baanx.com Ltd holds UK customers’ funds and Frozen Time UNIPESSOAL LDA holds those of EU customers. CL also handles account closure, card status, identity checks and personal-data requests.
On the deadline, the FAQ is cautious. “Exact card functionality timelines are set by the issuer and provider, not 1inch, so we can’t guarantee a specific end date,” it says, describing 18 Dec as “as far ahead as we can currently foresee.”
If the date is missed
Balances are not lost after closure, the FAQ says. It points to the issuer’s card terms, under which money left in the e-wallet can still be claimed for six years after the account is closed, through CL support.
1inch still recommends withdrawing now. Holders who get no reply from CL can log the case with 1inch support, which says it will escalate it with the provider.
Context
1inch launched the card in April 2024 with Crypto Life as issuer, running on the Mastercard network, its blog announcement shows. It converted crypto to fiat at the point of payment for purchases and ATM withdrawals. The exit comes as bigger players push into the same space: CryptoWatchDesk covered Mesh and Visa’s crypto-balance spending plan on 19 Oct and Marqeta’s stablecoin-backed cards with Coinbase on 16 Oct.
What it changes for users
For holders, the practical step is to move any balance out well before 18 Dec, read their card terms for any withdrawal charges first, and keep a record of any request sent to CL. The card’s issuer may set a different cut-off, so the FAQ is the page to watch. For another card model built on stablecoin balances, see Stripe and Plasma’s stablecoin cards.
