On the All Core Developers Execution call (ACDE #247) on 8 Oct, developers agreed to activate Glamsterdam, the Gloas-plus-Amsterdam upgrade, on the Hoodi testnet on Monday 26 Oct, EtherWorld reported. The ethereum/pm schedule proposal puts that at epoch 132352, 17:42:48 UTC. The pull request was still open when we checked, so treat the exact minute as pending until client releases land.
The rundown
- What changed: Hoodi has a date. Clients are due to ship compatible releases by 16 Oct. The gas-limit increase will take effect at the fork epoch on both Hoodi and mainnet, the call notes record. The Sepolia run, which ended with a 200 million gas limit, was described as largely uneventful.
- Why it matters: Hoodi is a public test network with a broader set of staking operators and infrastructure providers than Sepolia, EtherWorld said. On the Hegotá side, the call moved eight more proposals to “considered for inclusion”: PAY opcode (EIP-5920), ecRecover improvements (8151), SETCODEFROM (8298), TCREATE (8360), deactivating SELFDESTRUCT (4758), reading BLOCKHASH from storage (7709), transaction propagation (8077) and receipt-field changes (8116). Three were declined, including ML-DSA signature precompiles (8355). Developers see 8151 and 8298 as complementary steps toward moving existing accounts to post-quantum signatures. Starknet is weighing a similar quantum-driven move
- Where it breaks: Ten days is tight. Some developers worried that large staking operators get little notice, and that last-minute client patches, as happened before Sepolia, add operational risk. Builder participation on Sepolia was thin: four or five active builders, with many blocks built locally, so the new proposer-builder design (EIP-7732) has not yet met a real builder market. The benchmark on a mainnet shadow fork also behaved unexpectedly on gas limits and will be re-run.
- By the numbers: 26 Oct (Hoodi), 16 Oct (client releases), 200M (Sepolia gas limit after ramp), 8 EIPs advanced, 3 declined.
No mainnet date appears in the meeting notes. The schedule pull request floats 1, 8 and 9 Dec as candidate mainnet slots; those are proposals, not decisions.
Testnets are rehearsals. Mainnet is the show.
